MOMENTS LATER, SATURDAY

I couldn’t shake the feeling that we were being watched as we walked around the burned down merry-go-round, and my ZOMBIE HAIRS stood up on the back of my neck. I spun around, but couldn’t see anyone—just abandoned rides and stalls.

I stuck close to Steve as he followed the footprints.

‘Huh,’ Steve said, rubbing his chin. ‘The tracks just stop here at the wing of this Ender Dragon.’

The footsteps indeed ended at the base of the burnt, wooden Ender Dragon. It was almost as if the Ender Dragon had picked them up. But that’s impossible. It definitely wasn’t real... right?

Suddenly, an EERIE LAUGH echoed across the empty fair ground. I stumbled back in surprise, crashing into the pile of rubble and hitting my head so hard it fell off and bounced into the dirt. Ow!

‘You okay?’ Steve asked, picking up my head and bringing it back to my body.

‘I’m fine,’ I said, sticking my head back on my neck. ‘Did you hear that?’

‘Hear what?’

‘There was a laugh,’ I said with a frown. I hadn’t imagined it, had I? I looked back at the rubble pile I’d landed in, which now had a Zombie-shaped dent in it. Something GLEAMED in the rubble. I leaned down to get a closer look, brushing away the dirt. It was a shiny Coin!
